MEMENTO is implemented in the form of six integrated work packages (WPs), each headed by a WP leader. Claus Hélix-Nielsen (DTU Environment) will act as ‘virtual CEO’ and innovation expert Gert Holm Kristensen (DHI Denmark) will co-chair in order to ensure convergence and momentum in WP1-6 by bi-monthly (Skype) meetings with WP leaders. They are also responsible for disseminating results and maintaining an active dialog with the industry thereby enhancing visibility and potential of RED, PRO and FO-SMBR. The combined research training thrust is 9 PhD years (manned as PhD1, PhD2 and PhD3) and 4 postdoc years (manned as postdoc 1-2) – see section 7.1 below for the educational plan.
MEMENTO will be able to maintain its planned activities for four years (eight semesters (S)) with the proposed budget. The first half-year (S1) will be devoted to establish an effective leadership foundation including formulation of IPR agreements, detailed planning of Projects and hiring of PhD and post doc candidates. The next three years will be dominated by the research and development activities performed within WP1-6. The final semester (S8) will be focused on securing the momentum created by the consortium beyond the funding period by seeking finalization of future research collaboration agreements.
